Horse owners will have an opportunity to learn about grazing management issues during a webinar that North Dakota State University Extension is hosting Wednesday, May 6, at noon CDT.

Topics will include:

  • Grass mixes found in North Dakota horse pastures
  • New grass establishment (seeding rates, interseeding, fertilizing)
  • Timing of grazing based on plant growth
  • Rotational grazing and fencing tips
  • Transitioning your horse from winter hay to summer grass
  • Plants toxic to grazing horses
  • Dry lot management

The presenters are NDSU Extension specialists and agents.

“This will be a great opportunity to learn and ask questions about grazing management as it pertains to horses,” says Rachel Wald, NDSU Extension’s agriculture and natural resources agent in McHenry County. “Management of your grazing resources can help you extend the grazing season while making sure your horse is getting the best nutrition at appropriate times.”
